Scene 31
Characters : The son, five young prisoners
(The son is moving around the jail and watching the prisoners and their lives. Some where he has lost in his mind. He goes ahead and turns into a gallery. Six prisoners are trying to kill a young prisoner. Two of them are holding his hands and legs and one is smothering him. The fourth prisoner takes out a small rod stick from this clothes and very forcefully penetrate it into his head. when he tries to cry, puts his hand over his mouth and the man repeats the rod again and again over his head. The son is highly surprised to this brutal murder in the jail. Two new prisoners enters into the gallery and after seeing this scene, they turns back and runs away. One of them looks to the son. and says in a loud voice. )
the running man
(To the son) Do not stay here! Run away!!!
(His commanding words activate the son and along with them he runs away.) Do not mention it to any one, just go and stay in your ward. Think we have not met in any way.
(The boy very fast runs to his ward. In ward premises, some prisoners look to him with a little surprise. He enters into the ward and sits against the wall at his usual place. After a little while, all the prisoners are rushing to the ward.)

Why we are being locked earlier?

We have not even made our food!
The third prisoner
Perhaps something happened in the jail.
(A constable quickly locks the door and runs away. All the prisoners are trying to look out side the gate. All are in bewilderment.They are not able to understand the situation. All of sudden, a noise from out side the ward is heard. The mad bell of the jail starts ringing continuously. Outside the ward some prisoners are pelting over jail guards and they are struggling hard to control them. Prisoners inside the ward are still confused and abusing the jail guards from inside. The son is still sitting against the wall, his eyes are closed. Some shots of fire is heard, but the son does not open his eyes.)

Characters: The son,78 prisoners and the eight jail guards with their rifles.
Evening /Ent/ inside ward
(A jail guard open the gate. With him enter eight jail guards . All the prisoners look to them)
One guard
(With a loud voice) All take your place. Counting will start. Make pair.
(All the prisoners sit in his place with two set-up. The son is alone. He opens his eyes and looks around. He does not understand what to do.)
A prisoner
(Seeing him alone, he sits in front of him) Now we are in pair.
(Counting starts) one, two three….
(The counting goes on like a class room. The jail guard is writing the counting on register)…nine…ten ..fourteen …sixteen…….thirty five…
The guard
(When ends the counting) Thirty pairs…total 70. The number is not perfect..8 prisoners are missing. Let us find them out.
(Two new guards come with eight prisoners, the golden chain man and bearded man were among them )
The new guard
These prisoners belong to this ward.
The guard
(He counts the prisoners)..one , two ..four ..eight…
(Then he looks to the register. Total 78… now the number is perfect. )
A prisoner
(Looking to the guard) What is the problem?
The guard
It is just a routine counting. May be you will not get food today.
The second prisoner
Why?
The guard
Some prisoners have created problems…We are trying to sort it out. You all just sit here peacefully. If everything is ok, food will be provided in late hours. An no arguments about it. Let us move.
(All of them go out of the ward and again the get is locked. Then some prisoners gather around the golden chain man)

(to the Golden chain man) What happened, Big brother?
The golden chain man
A prisoner has been killed.
(The son looks to the golden chain man)

Chaacters : The father, three officers of his department.
Night/ Ent/in a meeting room.
(They all are sitting around a table.)
The first officer
It is a complicated case. We have all the fraudulent proofs against this leader. Now our department wants to arrest him. But it must be done very carefully. You are going to lead this arrest.
The father
Yes Sir!
The first officer
( Looking to the other two officers )
They will assist you. If you want more force, you can ask them. For interrogation, We will have only three hours. No physical harm and all information I want.
The father
Ok, sir.
The first officer
When will you want to move ?
The father
Now.

Characters : The father, two officers and three other men.
Night/ Ext/ besides a house.
( A Car is standing besides a house. The Father and one officer are sitting in the car. They are looking to the gate of the house.)
The officer
As usual we should take action in late night.
The father
It would be better to catch the bird as soon as possible. We have to do a lot of work after arrest.
The officer
Arresting is difficult than the shooting.
The father
He is a public leader, he must be dealt softly.
(A car comes to the main gate of the house. When it stops at the gate, the other officer, standing beside the main gate gives signal. The father starts his car and aggressively stops it in front of the leader car. He comes down quickly and opens the car's door. A body guard sitting besides the driver quickly turns to the father with his gun but the officer who is standing there covers him from the windows of the car. He puts his revolver on his head.)
The father
(Sitting besides the Leader) It is a CBI red and I want your co-operation. You are under arrest.
(The leader looks to him with blank eyes.)
You come with me without any voice. I do not want any drama here. The press will come and…
The leader
What you want?
The father
Come with us peacefully.
(The father turns to body guard and the driver.)
Do not worry. It is CBI. Do not mention anything about it.
(Turning to the Leader)
Come down.
The leader
Let me talk to your officer.
The father
I am the officer of this red.
The leader
It is not good, it is a democratic country.
The father
Democracy! Government for the people by the people etc…We are doing the public work. (In a violent tone) Just come down.
(The leader comes down and enters into the other car. The car quickly moves away and the officer on the road enters into the moving car.)

Night/Ent/ in side ward.
(The son is sitting on the only one bed in the ward with the golden chain man.)
The golden chain man
What you saw today?
(The son looks to him but says nothing)
I am talking about the murder. I know you were present there.
The son
They have killed him brutally.
The golden chain man
Are you afraid ?
The son
No.
The golden chain man
The death is universal truth, every one has to face it. Some people born to kill other people. You have a killing instinct and it is good for this world. Can you recognize those persons ?
The son
Yes.
The golden chain man
But you will not. Those are my people.
(The Son looks to the golden chain man.)
You will be called by the jailer.

Characters : The father and his one associate.
Night/ent/ In a luxurious room.
(The father is sitting on a chair. He is drinking water. His associate is sitting before him.)
The associate
He wants to meet you.
The father
Have you asked him about lunch?
The associate
Bring some good meats and ask him for lunch. Tell him I will talk to him after lunch.
(The associate stands up).
Only meat, no water.
(The father drinks the water. )

Hello Alok,
That was a powerful set of scenes. I understood better the brutality the son was experiencing in prison while at the same time feeling afraid that the father's temper may flare up with the arrest and cause uncontrolled violence during the interrogation. I guess the word is explosive.
I liked the forest scene where the son stood before the fire and burned an effigy of his father. It was an important pause and a window into the mind of the young man. I would love to see a similar moment in the prison where there is a pause in the action and a time where the boy expresses his fear or confusion. This is a lot for a thirteen year old boy to experience in a short period of time. (Enough violence to last a lifetime really)
How does a child recover from such an experience? What do children at this age do to cope or make sense of the world? Is there a moment in prison where the son switched into survival mode?

I have written the most difficult scenes today.I am thrilled to write it so beautifully. I was having great challenge to establish the pure relation between father, mother and the son. Like a fire. Fire is worshiped in india and it is very much related with all the religious rituals of this country.So naturally it is related with marrige's rituals. Here fire guides human beings. It is very much pure here. Do you know I love fire. It attracts me madly, and I want to jump into it always.
